2. Eat snacks. It may not sound like the best way to lose weight, but eating small and healthy snacks throughout the day can keep you from overindulging when dinnertime comes around. Try some trail mix, an apple, or baby carrots to help your body stay active all day long.
3. Don't skip breakfast. It really is the most important meal of the day: It can boost your metabolism rate by 10 percent, and can help cut down the risk of obesity and diabetes. And no, coffee doesn't count – start your day right with some granola-topped yogurt or fruit and cereal.
4. Don't cut calories. We're not saying you should follow your brother's Homer Simpson-esque diet, but don't go too far in the other direction, either – when you don't give your body as many calories as it needs, it goes into starvation mode and starts storing up all the fat it can get by slowing your metabolism way down. Stick to a healthy, but still hearty, diet, and you'll see the best results.
5. Switch up your daily exercise routine. Instead of sticking to a steady pace when you ride your exercise bike, alternate between fast and slow. It gets your heart rate going, and pushes your body to burn more fat than ever before.
